Hey friends! As a mum juggling work, kids, and life in general, I’ve realised that creating a healthy home environment isn’t just about diet or exercise, it’s also about the little everyday things we might overlook. Small tweaks around the house can make a huge difference for your kids’ wellbeing.
Here’s what’s been working for me.
1. Keep the Air Clean
Air quality is huge, especially if you live somewhere like the Northern Rivers where pollen, humidity, and mould ☹ are part of daily life.
- Ventilate rooms regularly
- Use houseplants (Spider plants, Peace Lilies, or Snake plants) — they naturally filter air and are safe for kids
- Consider a small HEPA filter in bedrooms or play areas
It’s amazing how much calmer everyone feels with fresh, clean air.
2. Upgrade Your Water
Tap water can have chlorine, heavy metals, and other impurities. Kids’ skin is sensitive, and even short showers can irritate or dry them out.
A shower filter can:
- Reduce irritation for skin and hair
- Keep bath time calm and soft
- Make hair more manageable (yes, even the little ones!)
Honestly, it’s a small investment with a huge daily payoff.
We wanted to make shower filters accessible for all family that’s why we designed the Vida Pura shower filter – it's simple, effective filtration for home wellness.
3. Simplify Cleaning Products
Many conventional cleaning products have strong fragrances or chemicals that can trigger allergies or skin reactions. Opt for:
- Fragrance-free or natural cleaners
- Vinegar, baking soda, and citrus for DIY solutions
- Store products safely away from little hands
It makes the house safer and reduces sneezes, rashes, or coughing fits.
4. Focus on Calm Spaces
Kids pick up on stress and chaos. Creating low-stim spaces can help them regulate:
- Soft lighting in bedrooms
- Quiet reading corners
- Limiting screen clutter in play areas
Even small corners can make kids feel calmer and more secure.
My thoughts…
Creating a healthier home for kids doesn’t need to be extreme or expensive. Simple changes like cleaner water, better air, gentler products, and calm spaces can transform everyday life.
💛 Small shifts make a big difference
Lots of love
